Some Robinson House
Historical Notes
Colonel Thomas Robinson served in the American Revolutionary
War and was wounded at the Battle
of the Brandywine. He was inducted into the ORDER OF CINCINNATI by George Washington in 1785.
Key Revolutionary War period visitors to the house were George Washington, Lighthorse Harry Lee,
Mad Anthony Wayne, Lafayette, and many other notables as they traversed the
Kings Highway (The Pike).
It was reported that Caesar Rodney changed
horses here on his famous ride to Philadelphia in 1776.
In the 1900's, the house hosted an artists' colony
of Howard Pyle students (c. 1907-1914) and then served as the "Naamans Tea House"
(1914-1964).
The Naamans Kill Questers managed the House from 1976-2002.
