Swedesburg, PA. The conference examined the artistic and historical contexts
of of three Swedish important artists who worked in the geographical area of
the former New Sweden Colony (1638-55). Today this area encompasses the
states of Delaware, New Jersey & Pennsylvania. One of the artists was
Adolph-Ulrich Wertmüller whose home still stands today on the grounds of
the Claymont Steel Company.
Claymont
Historical Society President, Carolyn Mercadante, introduced Rebecca J.
Sheppard, Assistant Professor, School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy,
University of Delaware. Ms. Sheppard conducted a historical research study
of the Wertmüller House for the Claymont Historical Society. She
presented her findings at the conference. Attendees were quite interested
